Association for American Colleges and Universities—Civic Engagement section contains data from major studies on Civic Engagement, describes Civic Engagement initiatives spearheaded by the AAC &U, and includes scholarly articles on civic engagement in higher education.
Campus Compact is “dedicated to promoting community service, civic engagement, and service-learning in higher education.”The site has numerous teaching resources, a calendar, descriptions of its initiatives, and listings of publications.
The Center for Democracy and Citizenship, a part of the University of Minnesota, places an emphasis on public work in civic practice, through the lens of activism inherited from civil rights movement. They work with both the theory and practice of democracy.
The Center for Research and Information on Civic and Engagement, based in the University of Maryland's School of Public Policy, promotes research about the civic and political participation of people aged 15 to 25 in politics. A good resource for fact sheets on youth, instructional resources, and reports.
Civnet (a part of Civitas International) is an online resource for civic educators, scholars, policy makers, journalists, and NGOs (non-governmental organizations) worldwide. The site provides Democracy Digest, a journal on promoting democracy, instructional resources, and reports.
The Close Up Foundation organizes educational programs to improve understanding and participation in the political process, particularly for younger people not yet old enough to vote. Based in Washington, D.C., over 650,000 people have participated in programs organized by Close Up.
The Constitutional Rights Foundation focuses on the civic education of young people specifically through the lens of the Constitution, and especially the Bill of Rights. CRF develops and distributes programs and materials to teachers, students, and citizens across the country.
The Content of Our Character Project focuses on ethics in the political world, and the conflicts that arise between different generations, communities, and other sectors from our different understanding of ethics. The Project stresses discussion about difficult moral issues between groups with different opinions.
The Kettering Foundation researches and addresses “challenges to making democracy work as it should” through six research areas: public choice, community, public education, institutions, government, and international organizations. Founded in 1927, the foundation’s main purpose is "to sponsor and carry out scientific research for the benefit of humanity"

Project Pericles aims to hold colleges and universities accountable for teaching social responsibility through multiple avenues, like the classroom or the community. Allegheny College was one of the founding members.
